PURPOSE:
As an Advisory Council Member, you will:
Advise Leadership: Provide valuable input to the Board of Directors and Executive Director on policies, programs, and actions, including those related to our funded services.
Advocate for Constituents: Represent and champion the interests of our senior community.
Review and Comment: Assess and provide feedback on policies and programs from other agencies that affect older adults.

BACKGROUND:
Founded in 1973 as Hollywood Senior Center, CfPA has a long history of serving adults 55 and older and fostering intergenerational connections. Our 2021 merger with The Giving Tree expanded our reach to include culturally-specific food services and residential support, creating a comprehensive network for our community.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Advise on Policies and Procedures: Offer guidance on the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
Program Planning and Evaluation: Contribute to the planning, assessment, and improvement of programs.
Review Reports: Examine organizational and programmatic reports for insights and improvements.
Promotion and Outreach: Advocate for CfPA within the community and assist in fundraising efforts.
Representation: Act as a liaison between the center and the broader community, bringing community concerns and ideas to the Council.
Support Advocacy: Help drive advocacy efforts for senior services and promote equity and inclusivity.
LENGTH OF TERM:
Term: Two years, with the possibility of renewal up to two times (totaling six years). A one-year break is required after serving the maximum term before rejoining.
MEETINGS AND TIME COMMITMENT:
Monthly Meetings: Held on the 1st Wednesday of each month from 1:00 - 3:00 pm, currently offered in a hybrid format (in-person and Zoom).
Ad-Hoc Committees: Participation as needed.
EXPECTATIONS OF ADVISORY COUNCIL MEMBERS:
Attendance: Regularly attend and actively participate in meetings and special events.
Committees: Serve on ad-hoc committees as required.
Community Awareness: Stay informed about community concerns that align with CfPA’s mission.
Advocacy: Promote CfPA’s mission and programs within the community.
Financial Acumen: Understand CfPA’s finances, budget, and resource needs.
Policy Knowledge: Familiarize yourself with CfPA’s policies and procedures.
Equity and Inclusivity: Contribute to fostering a culture of equity and inclusivity within CfPA.
