The Community for Positive Aging (CfPA) is seeking a passionate and dynamic Director of Community Services to lead, innovate, and expand our comprehensive portfolio of direct service programs. This leadership role provides an exciting opportunity to shape and grow the organization’s mission-driven work, with a primary focus on improving the health and well-being of older adults, particularly those facing health disparities. The Director will be at the forefront of a team dedicated to promoting health equity, improving access to healthy food, and providing holistic services that support seniors' overall wellness.

As the Director of Community Services, you are a senior level staff member who will lead all direct service programs aimed at addressing health disparities and ensuring access to healthy food for low-income seniors and adults in subsidized housing. In this vital position, you will guide a talented and diverse team, including case managers, outreach coordinators, and volunteers, in implementing and expanding CfPA’s suite of health, education and nutrition services. You will be responsible for shaping strategies and program delivery to create meaningful, sustainable impacts within the community, all while advancing our commitment to equitable access and outcomes for all.

Classification: Salaried, Exempt
Salary Range: $90,000-$93,600 annual salary

Key Responsibilities 

Leadership and Strategic Oversight 

● Serve as a key member of CfPA’s leadership team, shaping the organization’s strategic vision and ensuring programmatic alignment with mission-driven goals. ● Supervise, mentor, and support Program Leads and program staff, fostering a high-performance, inclusive organizational culture that encourages innovation and professional growth. 

● Collaborate with leadership to refine operational systems, policies, and procedures, ensuring efficiency and alignment with CfPA’s long-term objectives. ● Advocate for policies and initiatives that advance the health, nutrition, and well-being of older adults, engaging with policymakers, funders, and community stakeholders to amplify CfPA’s impact. 

● Strengthen organizational partnerships by leading collaborative planning efforts, ensuring alignment between programmatic goals and broader strategic priorities.

● Provide hands-on leadership for all direct service programs, ensuring continuous improvement, sustainability, and responsiveness to evolving community needs.

 

Program Design and Development 

● Lead the development and enhancement of CfPA’s direct service programs, integrating best practices in health promotion, nutrition, chronic disease prevention, and wellness for older adults. 

● Conduct community assessments to identify and address health disparities, ensuring that CfPA’s programs are culturally responsive and inclusive. ● Develop evidence-based program models that improve quality of life, emphasizing proactive health interventions, disease prevention, and holistic aging support. 

● Work collaboratively across departments and with external partners to integrate community health trends and public health best practices into program delivery.

● Identify opportunities to expand CfPA’s services, incorporating innovative approaches to enhance accessibility and impact. 

Program Implementation 

● Oversee daily operations of all health, nutrition, and wellness programs, ensuring high-quality service delivery. 

● Manage and support program managers, staff, and volunteers, fostering a collaborative team environment focused on efficiency and impact. 

● Utilize data-driven decision-making to monitor and evaluate program performance, adjusting strategies as needed to optimize outcomes.

● Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and effective resource allocation to maximize program sustainability. 

● Work closely with fundraising and development teams to secure program funding, providing key insights on resource needs and program growth opportunities. 

Advocacy, Resource Development, and Community Engagement 

● Lead CfPA’s advocacy efforts by engaging with government agencies, community organizations, and coalitions to advance policies that support older adults’ health and well-being. 

● Collaborate with the development team to identify funding opportunities, support grant writing efforts, and cultivate relationships with donors, foundations, and corporate partners. 

● Represent CfPA in public forums, conferences, and policy discussions, serving as a thought leader on aging, public health, and nutrition. 

● Build and maintain strong partnerships with healthcare providers, community-based organizations, and government agencies to expand CfPA’s reach and program impact. 

● Develop and implement strategic outreach initiatives to engage older adults from diverse backgrounds, ensuring equitable access to CfPA’s services. ● Lead the planning and execution of community wellness events, health workshops, and informational campaigns that promote healthy aging and disease prevention. 

Evaluation and Reporting 

● Design and implement comprehensive program evaluation tools to measure impact, using data to drive continuous program improvement.

● Prepare detailed reports for funders, the Board of Directors, and other stakeholders, clearly articulating program outcomes and strategic 

recommendations. 

● Collect and analyze feedback from program participants, ensuring services remain responsive to community needs and evolving trends. 

Governance and Board Support 

● Provide financial and programmatic insights to the Board of Directors, ensuring effective oversight and strategic alignment of CfPA’s programs. 

● Support Board recruitment, orientation, and governance-related activities to strengthen leadership engagement. 

● Assist in developing Board materials and participate in all Board meetings, delivering program reports and strategic recommendations. 

The Successful Candidate 

You are a passionate and results-driven leader with a deep commitment to health equity and aging advocacy. You bring expertise in public health, social services, or a related field and have successfully led community-based programs that address health disparities and promote well-being for older adults. 

With a track record of program development, team leadership, and resource development, you excel at securing funding, cultivating partnerships, and driving policy initiatives that advance older adults' needs. Your ability to translate strategic goals into actionable, sustainable programs sets you apart, as does your skill in managing diverse teams and fostering collaborative relationships. 

You are a compelling advocate for aging populations, capable of leveraging data, policy engagement, and community partnerships to maximize impact. Your strategic mindset, combined with a hands-on leadership approach, ensures that CfPA’s programs remain innovative, inclusive, and effective in addressing the evolving needs of the community. 

Qualifications 

● Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

● 5-7 years of experience leading health and nutrition programs, with a focus on aging populations and community-based initiatives. 

● In-depth understanding of the health and wellness issues impacting older adults, particularly chronic disease management, food security, and preventive health. ● Proven experience designing, implementing, and evaluating community-focused programs with a strong focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

● Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a team of diverse professionals. 

● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in program data collection, reporting, and evaluation. 

● Experience managing budgets and securing resources for program sustainability. 

Work Location & Hours 

● This position is based on-site with typical work hours Monday through Friday, with some evening or weekend work required for community events.

● The position requires engagement with community members in a variety of settings (e.g., senior center, low-income buildings, outreach events).
